The BuckStop works by preventing the horse lowering his head to such a degree that he can round his back and perform a full buck, because the BuckStop attaches to the bit the horse quickly learns that if he puts his head down the bit raises in his mouth and effectively reminds him not to do this.

Bucking is a natural defence reaction for a horse and often results when the horse feels uncomfortable or threatened. Some horses also buck when they are excited. Although this behaviour is fine when the horse is turned out in the paddock, when being ridden it is extremely dangerous for the rider and regardless of the reasons for it happening it must be prevented. Of particular concern is when a child's pony resorts to bucking as a young rider may not have the experience or strength to deal with it effectively.

THE REMUS

The Remus is a versatile piece of equipment designed for use by the rider during flatwork schooling sessions or as a lunging aid. It is a progressive training aid to enable the rider to maintain a steady contact with a horse that tends to pull, lean or snatch on the rider's hands.

The Remus encourages flexion and self- carriage. Also of use on the lunge with or without a rider the Remus can be used to develop balance, self carriage and lightness. START RIGHT LONG REINS

We feel the major benefit to the young horse is that "it shows the horse the way to the ground" allowing the horse to seek a deeper contact, become much rounder in its outline and feel confident to move forward freely from behind without the added complication of weight on its back.

Long reining has long been considered a specialised discipline within the horse world with even the most experienced trainers choosing to use other methods of training simply because they have never been shown how easy it is to do or have never understood the benefits.

However, we realise that long reining can be a frightening process, the horse can sometimes spin at objects and this can render the trainer vulnerable and in a position where both reins are on one side of the horse which then effectively becomes 'out of control' It is also difficult for a novice trainer to keep an even contact on the reins especially with a nervous or spooky horse.

The Start-Right long reining kit has been developed to help the trainer overcome these problems. Each rein is made of quality cushion web. Useful hand loops indicate the balance of the contact and give the trainer the option of 'hold' positions. An adjustable, removable breech strap helps the horse work forwards encouraging him to track up at all times and keeps the reins balanced through to the trainer. The breech strap prevents the reins from crossing to one side of the horse should he attempt to spin. A loin strap can also be used to ensure the reins remain at a safe height. Both the breech strap and the loin strap are fully adjustable and can be removed altogether if desired.
